VIDEO: On the Nats' chemistry

Last night's TV segment on Comcast SportsNet focused on the positive chemistry the Nationals enjoyed last season and expect to enjoy again this year. It's always a difficult thing to quantify, but as you'll hear from several players and Davey Johnson, it has been an integral part of the Nats' success.

Mark, one of the very refreshing things I have liked about your camera presence is that you don't have those weird, fake emphatic lilts that broadcasters have. You speak clearly, very conversationally and at an intelligent pace that sounds like you're just having a conversation with us. I hope they aren't trying to talk you into doing it like them.

Very nice compilation video Mark! I remember when someone called Werth the "change agent" over a year ago and how he was such a key to the change in team character after Nyjer left.

Much credit to Werth on starting the chemical reaction on this team and Davey for leading the team.

Agree, nice job Mark. Key word from Ryan Zimmerman is the term "Core". I'm not sure if he has said that before in an interview but we've talked about that here for a while which is why the extension of JZim and Desi are a key to the future.

@AdamKilgoreWP My thought EXACTLY. Wrote it up last week! Great to see it validated by a pro. #Nats http://ladyandthenats.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-magic-twenty-seven.html …

Nice job NatsLady. Very nice blog entry!

Thanks, Ghost. I'm going to (sigh) write about Game 5, but I'm taking a different perspective. Don't know if I'll finish by the time I have to go to work... so it'll be out today or tomorrow.

I am still mourning Michael. I like that he retweeted Denard on how weird it is to be in a new place now.

But I love everyone we have left, and I am starting to feel excited. I guess it will just take a few games to get me over it.

So thankful that Mark is feeding so much info to us. I can't seem to get enough. GYFNG!!!!!

Not enough Mark here, way too much Ghost of Steve M. Why doesn't he get his own blog and let some other people get a word in edgewise here?

Can't wait to read your perspective. Maybe Horsey will read it too.

Hey horsey. Do like most of us do when that guy Tony posts. Just skip over the post.

Thanks NatsJack. Maybe Mark Zuckerman can silence Horsey because if Mark didn't want me here he wouldn't un-spam my posts all the time. It seems when I post multiple times his spam filters spams them and then he un-spams them.

Ever the logical reductionist, Davey said it best. Team chemistry is the result of players being successful at their role. I

It takes a good manager to specify individual player roles.

Disparate negative cliques form when teams are unsuccessful, and players develop an animostiy to the manager's leadership.

Hard for me to understand the jealousy of others on a baseball blog. The great thing about all sports is there are different opinions and takes on just about everything. Ghost, JayB, NatsJack, Natslady and everyone else. Keep churning out those thoughts.

Yeah, NatsJack is right Horsey.

Skip over the post Horsey, like most of us skip over your's!!

The Ghost Lives!!!! Post on Steve M.!!!!

JaneB, I will always treasure, and remember fondly, all that Michael Morse brought to this team. From the song to the tape measure homers to the greatest smile to the antics, this guy was just a joy to watch. But there is a business side to baseball, and Morse was asset that the sand in the hourglass was running out on. The Nats have a core group of young guys that are going to have to get more money in the next few years and because of that.Morse wasn't going to get the dough from the Nats that he will command next year.
Does the improved OF and higher OBP and speed of Span offset the loss of MM's power numbers? It really is impossible to say with any certainty, but I really believe that Denard brings a lot to the table that will make this an even better team, and a very exciting one, just in a different way. GYFNG!!!

Repeated from yesterday:

Reading through the posts today, there was certainly one guy that posted one too many entries and his name wasn't Ghost of Steve M.

MLB Network going ga-ga right now over a big bomb Mike Morse hit in BP. When will they start talking about LaRoche and his kid's cute haircut?

I saw they showed Danny cutting his beard this morning on MLB. I laughed and laughed, really cool at the Fu Manchu point!

OK, folks, it's done. Game 5 for #Nats fans. No analysis, no stats, all touchy-feelie. http://ladyandthenats.blogspot.com

Looking forward to it, FS. Just can't get enough of our boys (and men!). A real game (ok, a fake game) on Saturday. I'll be working but listening, and then watch the replay when I get home.

This might be a spot for Marrero (Brewer's backup 1B is out for the season.) We have a lot of depth at 1B, but you can never have too much talent! Stay healthy, boys.

Thanks, guys, I just looked at the link and, yes, there is garbage there. Don't know how that happened, because I tested it before I posted. To add to the fun, my Twitter account got hacked. Trying again.

Still doesn't work with the link, it seems to circle back to Mark's blog and think it's posted there. Just use the URL, I guess. Technology is baffling.

NatsJack, Horsey only has horse sense, and no baseball sense. He's also afraid of Ghosts!

NatsJack, I think Horsey is waiting for Mark Zuckerman to answer him.

I'm just waiting for Horsey to give some good Nats insight.
