NLDS Game 3: Brewers at Diamondbacks

US Presswire photo
Arizona needs Josh Collmenter to come up big tonight at Chase Field.
The Brewers seized control of this series while inside the comforts of Miller Park, where they posted baseball's best home record this season. Now, can they continue that domination on the road, where they sported a sub-.500 record?

Milwaukee does have veteran Shaun Marcum on the hill tonight, up against rookie Josh Collmenter. Collmenter, though, was one of baseball's biggest surprises in 2011, coming out of nowhere to win 10 games and post a 3.38 ERA for the Diamondbacks.

As was the case in Wisconsin over the weekend, the roof at Chase Field will be closed tonight. Why? Because there are high winds and the threat of a haboob in Phoenix this evening. Look it up...

Nyjer is 1-10 in the series with a bunch of K's.

Yeah...he isn't playing well. But I'm still rooting for the Brewers because of him. And because I'm still mad at the DBacks for plunking our guys in June. I guess that is bordering on a full-on grudge, huh?

I have a problem with Nyjer's quotes when he was traded about going to a winning team and assorted other jabs. No love for him, no hate for him, no rooting for him.

I also have a hard time rooting for him. Thought he dogged it in spring training and his antics last year were embarrassing. Have to admit those first few months, he did bring excitement. The Tony Plush thing gets real old real fast. D'Backs probably won't win but it gives me hope about next year. If they can go from 90 losses to 90 wins why can't we jump as well??

Thanks for the vocabulary word, Mark. :-)

I'm not enthused about this series because I can't really root for the plunking snakes but I'm not crazy about the monster antics of the Brewers, either. Meh.

Having issues myself - really like Ryan Braun and the energy of the Brew-Crew. I also like any team in the playoffs that is not from NewYork or Philly. But - Nyger, eh. Jerry Hairston, Jr. was a good guy on our team until he made snarky comments when he left. D'Backs - yeah, they were kind of D'Bags when they played us. Same with the Cards - very whiny, kind of poor sports. But - at the end of the day I would love to see the Yanks and Phils eliminated, so you have to make some compromises I guess. I liked the whole Rays comeback story but they couldn't sustain it. Even though I am not fond of AL baseball, I think PapaGrande Valverde is very funny and would love to see his victory dances get more elaborate if Detroit moves on.

My husband already knew the vocabulary word. Wise guy... Just kidding. Sort of... :-)

Tony Flush finished last night at 1-11 w/ 6 strikeouts and a .091 Batting Average. Typical bad breaks on balls hit in front of him. He also is easy to run on with his weak arm.

Yep, that .545 K/AB rate makes me wonder why they don't throw more fastballs his way.

I can root for ex-Nats like Josh Willinghan not jerks like Nyjer Morgan. Can only hope his current streak continues. Keep in mind they only put Nyjer in cherry matchups against righty pitchers.

Gonat-- Guess that's why he gets so excited when he hits a single or catches a ball.
