NLCS Game 4: Brewers at Cardinals

US Presswire photo
The Brewers probably fear Albert Pujols more than the squirrel.
Man, what a postseason it's been so far. That game in Detroit that just ended was a true classic, with Justin Verlander throwing so many pitches, the only man on the planet unimpressed was Livan Hernandez. Now, for the nightcap in St. Louis, where the Cardinals are looking to take a commanding 3-1 lead over the Brewers in the NLCS.

This isn't exactly an awe-inspiring pitching matchup: Kyle Lohse vs. Randy Wolf. Lohse was battered around by the Phillies in the NLDS; Wolf really took one on the chin from the Diamondbacks in the last round. Sounds to me like a game that's going to be decided by the respective bullpens.

Couple of lineup changes for each club. Tony La Russa has bumped David Freese up to the cleanup spot behind Albert Pujols, dropping the slumping Matt Holliday. Ron Roenicke, meanwhile, has Nyjer Morgan back in his lineup but in the leadoff spot for the first time. Mark Kotsay starts, as well, but in right field with Corey Hart benched...

I don't know. A squirrel on a stick can be pretty intimidating... Go, Cardinals!

That was some game in Detroit. Looked like Meat Hook the Younger had his arm configured in the manner of the Elder as he rounded the bases after his early dinger.

The Brewers probably fear Albert Pujols more than the squirrel.

Real meaning: Get ready for a slugfest.

The Detroit/Texas series has been amazing - two extra inning games and all of the games have been closer than the scores look. Nelson Cruz hit multi -rbi homeruns very late in games twice. Lots of grinding and battling - I love it. I want every series to go the full seven games. First round, 3 of 4 went the full five - let's keep it going. Funny how the American League series has had close games - now the National League game could be a slugfest. Whoever makes the world series at this point - it should be a good one if the players all live through these playoffs.

Nyjer batting .136 in the Post-season after that groundout

I wish they'd mike Nyjer and have his reaction if they lose. And I also wish it was like the NHL where he'd have to face Pujols man to man. I'd pay a dollar for that.

Ankiel would have nailed him. Nyjer made that throw from shallow CF and was not even close....

hmmmm, Brewers evened it up, eh? Couldn't stay awake past the 7th this time. I think the cumulative effect of the late games is catching up to me. Well, at least there's only one a day for today and tomorrow. Speaking of ex-Nats, Hairston was bringing it last night. Nonetheless, go Cards!
