US Presswire photo CC Sabathia returns to the mound tonight against Justin Verlander. |
This, though, could wind up being even more compelling, since the series is now knotted at one game a piece, and since we don't really know what kind of physical shape either starter will be in after having their throwing schedules disrupted.
This also the fourth straight day these teams have played because the off-day was lost with the rain. That may not matter a whole lot tonight, but it could come into play tomorrow during Game 4...

Let's go, Yankees!
Hey, been rooting for them for 35+ years, I'm not going to bail out now. Most find it hard to believe, but when I started rooting for the Yankees in the early 70's, they were terrible and I had to deal with overbearing O's fans. They dominated the AL East for years, and had come off a three year WS run from 1969-1971.
Umpire really squeezing Sabathia so far, 2-2 game in the bottom of the 4th. Only thing keeping CC in the game is that the Yankees have turned three DPs in three innings.
This is a fun game, but I can't help imagining when the announcers are talking about Strasburg's stuff instead of Verlander's.
dryw-- yep, especially when we are in the playoffs. Tie game, now.
Umpire clearly trying to nurse Verlander through the rest of the game. Zone has REALLY expanded in the top of the 8th. Will be interesting to see the Pitch F/X when this one is said and done.
Valverde sure likes to keep things interesting...
Valverde is the kind of guy that fans love if he's on the team they root for, but they hate him if he's not. Fat & full of himself, staring at umpires when he doesn't like the calls and playing around with fastballs at people's heads. I'd say that he's the Tigers' version of Joba Chamberlain, except that Chamberlain isn't quite so quotable.
That Teixeira guy once again was un-clutch in the post-season.
Yay, happy morning game results! Atta way, Tigers.
At this point I don't care all that much who wins these series - much less about american league and would love to see the yanks out, but that's about all. As a baseball fan, though, I want every series to go the full 5 or 7 games. No sweeps in the playoffs, please!
John C, both pitchers got squeezed by the umpire last night. Valverde is a great guy to the fans and his teammates. Watched him with the Astros and the Tigers, he is a hard worker, takes the ball even when hurt. I'll take 49 out of 49 saves any day. BTW, he is a great dancer he and Ramon Santiago hosted a Salsa Dancing contest for charity, he can really dance. Call him fat? CC (who I really like) is no light-weight himself. Tonight's game is a toss-up, Porcello is young, Burnett has been inconsistent. Either way I will be watching.
Dawn... the bottom line for John C...... thuuuhuhuhuhuh Yankees lose.
But the Yankees are still playing, NatsJack - and in baseball, as long as you have outs you have hope.
