US Presswire photo Diamondbacks fans had plenty to celebrate during last night's win. |
Milwaukee, of course, would love to close things out tonight, offering the opportunity to rest up for several days and get its rotation in order for the NLCS. Manager Ron Roenicke will send veteran lefty Randy Wolf to the mound for Game 4, and with another lefty on the mound for Arizona in Springfield, Va., native Joe Saunders, he's benched Nyjer Morgan (1-for-11 in the series) in favor of Carlos Gomez.
The Diamondbacks' regular lineup sets up pretty well against left-handers. Rookie first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, who clubbed a grand slam last night, surely is licking his chops at the prospect of facing Wolf in this game...

Mark, in all fairness, I don't think Nyjer was benched even though he is 1-11 w/ 6 K's in as much as he is in a platoon with Gomez depending on Lefty/righty pitchers.
With a lefty pitching I think Nyjer would have sat anyway. If it was a righty pitching and Nyjer not starting then that would be a benching.
Jerry Hairston just singled in his 1st at-bat in the 2 hole which equals the total production in the 2 hole in the 1st 3 games of the playoffs.
Maybe we can re-name the 2 hole the Nat Hole.
Wow - anybody watching this game? D'backs are certainly not dead yet. Big Power in the first inning.
The Brewers really don't play well on the road, do they? If (and it's a big IF), Milwaukee makes it to the World Series, they'll owe Tyler Clippard a beer for securing home field advantage for the NL by winning the All-Star Game (yes, I know that's a gross overstatement).
BTW, for those of us using Apple computers: RIP Steve Jobs.
Hairston has now passed the total production of Nyjer in just 2 at-bats. I would enjoy watching a Game 5 with no Nyjer.
Not seeing much pitching here, really want to go to bed but the Brewers just keep hanging in.
Hairston has been impressive and Nyjer looks good on the bench where he belongs. Would love to see his tantrum if the Brewers lose game 5 at home.
Went to bed after seeing the tat-guy slice the salami (those late starts are not for me). Did set the DVR but don't know that I'll have time to watch it before tonight's ALDS game.
I'm with you natsfa1a; Late starts are a bear, need to rest up for tonights ALDS. Hope Fister is on and Tigers bats get busy.
Have nothing against Nyjer, he is a better fit with the Brew Crew. Happy to see Hairston have a good night, albeit in a loss.
