Game 36: Nats at Rockies

More rain is expected tonight at Coors Field.
DENVER -- The pitching matchup of the young season takes place tonight at Coors Field. Who would have guessed that matchup would involve Ubaldo Jimenez and Livan Hernandez?

Jimenez, of course, has enjoyed a breakout six weeks, tossing his no-hitter last month in Atlanta en route to a 6-1 record and 0.93 ERA. Hernandez, meanwhile, stands right behind Jimenez with a 1.04 ERA to go along with a 4-1 record.

These two already faced each other April 22 at Nationals Park, with Jimenez getting the better of Livo, winning 2-0. Those two runs are the most Hernandez has allowed in any start so far this season.

So this figures to be another nip-and-tuck ballgame tonight ... assuming it gets played at all. Yes, it's raining again. It was gorgeous this morning. But the clouds started rolling in around lunchtime, and it's now pouring. Forecast doesn't look good for the rest of the evening.

So buckle up for another long night. I'll be sure to post regular updates, both on the weather and the game...

Zim batting clean up???? WHHHAT?!

I've been thinking Riggs should switch those two. Ruth batted in front of Gehrig a lot, worked pretty well for them.

I would bat Zim clean up too. So many times Dunn has been up with runners on third and all that is needed is contact. A Dunn walk in front of Zim has more potential for a run being scored. Willie batting fifth is a head scratcher though.

@dale
Riggles like the LRLRLR stuff because he's probably hoping that they'll be able to wait Jimenez out with a high pitch count and he wants to make it tough for Tracy to match up with him when he brings in relievers.

Harris is more of a threat to go deep than either Desmond, Bernadina, or Nieves. He's averaged 18 home runs per 600 at bats over the last 2 + seasons

Mark: The crawl on MLB network claims the game's off, confirm/deny?

Nationals Journal says that same thing, and that they'll play two tomorrow. That means I'll get to see both games in real time. Yay!

Good news for Mark--he gets to knock off early for the day. Get some rest--tomorrow will probably be a long day!
