DENVER -- Seth Bynum, an infielder with Class AAA Syracuse, has been suspended 50 games after testing positive for an amphetamine, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.The suspension takes effect immediately.
Bynum, 29, is hitting .248 with four homers and 17 RBI in 29 games with Syracuse, most of them at second base. He's been with the organization since 2004, when the Montreal Expos signed him as an undrafted free agent. He's a career .267 hitter in seven seasons with the organization.

I met him in Spring Training and he seemed like a nice kid.
I know someone on prescribed amphetamines that are for ADHD (attention deficit) so while some use it to help their baseball focus and risked being banned like Bynum, it isn't going to make you stronger or faster which I think is an important differentiator vs. steroids.

When you're Seth Bynum, not hitting lights out, don't play great D, and basically organizational filler, these kind of things make you expendable in a hurry.

Any indications of the organizations move to fill this gap? Or this this just mean we will see more of Lambin at 2B?
Looks like Bynum admitted he took amphetamines used for ADD even though he does not have ADD, but would not say where he got from, only that he took it during spring training....well everyone in minor league camp has a roommate in Viera so my guess is it came from whoever his roommate was who probably suffers from ADD. Ok, Mark with that lead see what you can find out! :)
