Flores cleared to throw, Wang progressing

PHILADELPHIA -- Catcher Jesus Flores, still trying to recover from a major shoulder injury, has been cleared to resume throwing again. Meanwhile, right-hander Chien-Ming Wang, recovering from his own shoulder surgery, is progressing and is on target to join the Nationals' rotation in early-to-mid-June.

Here's a full update on both players on CSNwashington.com.

I am not getting a good feeling about EFFECTIVE return. If he isn't able to pitch in the regular season do the Nats still owe him 2 mil?

And so how come Mike Rizzo didn't happen to state that Chien Ming Wang is worth his weight in gold as he did Jordan Zimmerman? That a guy like JZimm is difficult to trade for if not impossible? Let me know when he starts talking like that about Wang and I'll believe he is "progressing".

According to Rizzo, Wang made some mechanical adjustments to his throwing motion and has been pitching off a bullpen mound in Viera with no problems. He’ll next begin pitching live batting practice. Once he passes that test, he can begin a minor-league rehab assignment.

Because he’s on the 60-day disabled list, Wang cannot return to the active roster until June 3 at the earliest. Rizzo, though, said the club will remain cautious with the 30-year-old pitcher and not rush him back before he’s ready.

So, what the Nats fans should just wait very patiently and expect this old guy to return hopefully in very perfect shape.........
How exciting !

I, for one, am pretty excited about Wang being here in June. The injury he had has hopefully been repaired, and his style of pitching lends itself to the very real possibility of him returning to be an effective pitcher. And 30 is not old for his style.
