VIDEOS: The Baseball Show

The Nationals evened up their record at 36-36 with last night's win, reaching the .500 mark once again this season. With a Braves loss they moved within six games of the division with 90 left to play. On last night's Baseball Show, Mark, Rob Carlin, and Jim Duquette discussed why there is plenty of time left for the Nats to make a run.

Also, we have this video from after last night's game with Nats players talking about their 5-1 victory over the Rockies.

A little small rant here. I was at the game last night (boy was Zimmermann on) and I purchased some peanuts with the coupon in Sunday's Washington Post. In stead of getting the peanuts they sell ever game, I got a smaller bag. One of the guys in the stand near me, just purchased a bag from a vendor and we held them up next to each other. The bag was about half the size.

The worker at the Nats Dogs stand, was oh your peanuts are here (below the counter), not the ones right there on the counter.

Just insulting...

So, I wanted to share my good news. Went to the Tyler Clippard event. Not a lot of people there, but he is very nice, polite young man, Liked my "Fear the Goggles" shirt. Signed a ball and a shirt and took a picture. Then, they also had a drawing, so I entered. Now, the place was obscure, the event was NOT well publicized. So most of the people there were there for their phones (it was in a T-Mobile store).

You had to be present for your prize. So I come back about 1;30 because the Denard-Span lookalike who is hawking the event says there is food. "Food" turned out to be two bags of chipd, some soda and bottled water. Clip is leaving with a pretty blond (long legs, of course, since it's the majors)--who, they inform me, is "from the Nats." He recognizes me and thanks me for coming out.

The 106.7 employees (of whom there were about 30,000) and I kid around for twenty minutes and another gent shows up. So it's him and me for the drawing. There are four drawings, he wins one and I win the other three. In the final drawing I get tickets that are so expensive I have to fill out a W-9 tax form.

So that takes care of when my sister will be visiting. I call her to tell here if she can arrange her flight (we were already planning for her to come) we will be in Suite City on the July 27th.

Now, as I'm typing this, the guy calls and says, no, you can only win one prize, so please keep the suite tickets and return the others, we were going by "old" rules--whatever that means. I'm sure if I made a fuss I could keep all the tickets, but since it would cost me more than they are worth to take off work to go to the games, I'll return them. LOL. Still a very nice day and I haven't even been to the game yet!

Very cool NL. Why the heck is Tyler Clippard doing an event in an obscure T-Mobile store with only two fans?

Ya got me. There were actually maybe one or two others who wandered in with Nats gear looking like they actually intended to be there. The 106.7 people said they hadn't had much time to publicize the event. I'm sure Clip was well-compensated for his two hours of not-very-stressful work.

I think they have to let me keep the suite tickets since they took a picture of me with them and it will go on their site (the 106.7 site, I assume).

Tcos, let me be sure I've got this right. You got a free bag of peanuts at the game and you're insulted you didn't get a bigger free bag of peanuts at the game. Am I missing something?

If you go to the designated driver stand, you get a ticket for free soda. It's a small size, smaller than they sell as "regular." But it's free. So it's fine. :)

No: They were not free, they were $2. I thought I was getting a regular size peanuts for $2. Instead I got a bag about half the size for half the prize, that doesn't seem coupon worthly to me. I assume the coupons will be in this weeks Washington Post, since it was good for the whole home stand.

They all so had a coupon for 2 for 1 sodas. I assume they are regular sized, but not I'm not sure if they just give you two half size sodas for the same price. I'm kidding there, but hope you see my point???

Congrats, NatsLady.

Let me get this straight. You're upset because the Washington Post offered you a deal that would provide you less content at a higher price compared with what you used to be able to get? Hell, they've been doing that with the newspaper for years!
