1-on-1 with Drew Storen

Drew Storen entered today's game as one of the hottest relievers in the majors, having not allowed an earned run since his first appearance of the year, boasting an 0.40 ERA and eight saves in eight opportunities.

The right-hander was nice enough to sit down with me this morning and talk about his performance so far, the pressure of pitching in so many close games and his current role as the Nats' not-officially-designated closer.

Didn't need him today, but nice to know he was there just in case. Good opportunity to give Cole Kimball a little more experience at the major league level. I believe he is going to be a good one for us.

It's a little early for such things, but as of right now Storen should represent the Nats at the AS Game.

BTW, good interview Mark!
Would you agree with just about everyone that he's a great, smart guy?
I remember some people (myself included) were wondering if he was too intellectual to be a closer.
Looks like that's not the case at all.

Defintely think he is our All Star Rep this year. I still think he has a lot of Trevor Hoffman in him. Also, what's up with the scruffy face? Is he trying to cover up the baby face and look meaner?

Yes, I would love to see him at the all star game. Since Riggleman is there, we might see him against some good hitters.

I have also liked Riggleman's use of bullpen. Not trying to use any of our good relievers, while adjusting for struggles and injuries.

Great to hear from Drew. Seems like a very good kid.
