Acta happier than ever with Indians

Indians manager Manny Acta throws batting practice before Friday's game.
CLEVELAND -- Manny Acta would have liked to be able to hand the ball to Stephen Strasburg every five nights instead of Daniel Cabrera. He would have liked to be able to call upon Drew Storen and Matt Capps to close out games instead of Kip Wells and Joel Hanrahan. He wouldn't have minded having Ian Desmond at shortstop and Ivan Rodriguez behind the plate.

But if you're looking for the former Nationals manager to complain about the hand he was dealt, you won't get it. Now in his first year as skipper of the Indians, Acta insists he has no regrets about the way things went during his 2 1/2 years in the District.

He's still a .350 baseball manager. Lifetime.

The fact that Acta resurfaced after his pathetic performance in DC is a miracle. I wonder if he has taken some assertiveness training yet or is he still intimidated by bad umpires making bad calls.

Manny was a nice guy but crappy manager.
He's happy to be in Cleveland and I'm happy he is there too.

The nats immediately got better when he left. No Pudge or Storen required.

Anon at 8:57 said the truth.

Last year, as much as some of us were convinced that the problem was the players, it was a combination of both as was shown when Manny was fired, the team got better.

Manny needed a change of scenery and got it and good luck to him.

Manny's a good man and was probably the kind of guy the Nationals needed to follow Frank Robinson. However, it didn't work out. That doesn't make him a bad guy or even a bad manager. There have been other good managers who've lost. He didn't have the players here to succeed. He needed a change of scenery last year, and the Nats needed something to change. If it worked out for both parties, all the better.

So driving the Nationals into the ground didn't fill you with joy, Manny?
