Strasburg debut nuggets

As we all sit around waiting for 7 p.m. tonight, here are a couple of items to share that relate to tomorrow's big event at Nationals Park...

-- The Nats will be selling 2,000 standing-room only tickets to tomorrow night's game, for $10 apiece. They will be available beginning at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the stadium box office.

-- The Nats also are still selling individual seats in the fourth-level suites at the ballpark. Those tickets cost $95 and do not include the usual suite-holder perks (like waiter service, free food, etc.). Still a nice, comfortable, padded seat with access to air conditioning.

-- For all you memorabilia collectors out there, Nikco Sports is offering a limited edition, framed photo of Stephen Strasburg taken at tomorrow's game. The piece will also include a small amount of actual dirt taken off the Nationals Park mound at some point tomorrow. Price is $89.95, and a portion of the funds go directly to the Make-a-Wish Foundation, certainly a worthy cause. You can find out more about that by going to www.nikcosports.com.

-- Oh, and for anyone interesting in listening or watching me talk about Bryce Harper, Stephen Strasburg and other things Nats, I'll be appearing on ESPN 980's "The Sports Fix" with Kevin Sheehan and Thom Loverro at 1:25 p.m. and then on Comcast SportsNet's "Washington Post Live" at 5 p.m.

For that money I'd expect a small piece of the stool sample of the first Pirates batter to crap his pants upon seeing a Strasburg fastball. Extra if it's Milledge.

Up and IN to Milledge.

Interestingly enough the Nationals starting rotation will feature 3 first round picks on Tuesday: Strasburg, Atilano, and JD Martin.

I'm SO out of this. Watching a game under these circumstances is going to be like trying to drive home at 2 AM New Year's Day, if they moved St. Patrick's Day to Dec. 31.

Those suite tix you refer to at $95 are the far off party suite tickets and it is a big stretch to call it a suite as those party rooms are more like big kitchens. Now then, for $145 the Nats are selling seats in an outer Jefferson Suite which is more of the posh suite you would expect.

The best deal I see is on StubHub for under $50 in Sections 105, 106 and 107 and you got a chance to catch a Ryan Zimmerman HR ball there!!!!!!

What would a HR ball from this game be worth?

Probably not as much as the first ball that crosses the plate, although that probably (hopefully) won't be available to anyone but SS.

The hype around this start is starting to get disgusting. I'm not one to normally complain about the marketing side of things, as I understand there's money to be made, but it's getting out of control. $90 for a glossy and some dirt?

I'm able to go to this game but I'll still pass. It's gonna be a shitshow. Nats first playoff is a different story though...hope I can see one of those in the next few years!

Any fellow fans going to watch at a bar? I'm a lowly FIOS customer and so I'm trying to find a good place to catch the game.

I'm making nachos and sitting on the couch. I think the hype is getting out of hand. How is a 21 year old kid supposed to handle this? I have tickets to his 3rd (presumably) start and will see him then.

Is it true the gates open at 4:30? This is bigger than Opening Day and NO Phillie phans! How special!

Plenty of tickets for under $50 on the internet and still flex plan seats available, I believe this will not ber a sell out and tickets will be available online until game time.

I'll also be watching from home (by choice, as I also had an opportunity to go). I'll catch one of his subsequent starts, at one of the games for which I have tix already.
