Associated Press Ross Detwiler allowed two runs in three innings this afternoon. |
"I was just in a competitive game," Detwiler said after facing the Braves for 2 2/3 innings. "You saw the lineup they put out there today. I could've been embarrassed pretty easily. Way to go Ross. You're going to be a valuable piece of our rotation this season.
His whole demeanor has changed in the last year. Who is this confident, articulate young man?? I like the way he carries himself, but mostly I like the way he pitches!!!
Sonny I agree... He can put up some great numbers for this team this year
Yep, I had written him off back in 2008-9. A Bowden bust. He has that late life on his fastball and his location is MUCH better. They talk about his changing his mechanics, that he no longer throws across his body. Thats bunk, his motion is the same. And anyone who has played baseball at a high level will tell you that you just don't get into big league camp and start changing your motion. Tweak it a little? Yes. But to change your landing foot 3-4 inches.....no. I'll bet if you talked to Det he would tell you it is something as simple as holding his fastball with the seams as opposed to across them....hence, a 2 seamer as they call it today
