Fans attending this weekend's games at Nationals Park should be prepared for heightened security measures coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
According to the Nationals, fans are encouraged to arrive earlier than normal for tonight's 7:05 p.m. game and tomorrow's 1:35 p.m. game against the Astros and leave backpacks, bags and other extra items at home.
The following enhanced security measures will be in place this weekend:
-- Limited entry points will be available for fans entering Nationals Park. Center field gates are scheduled to open at 4:30 p.m. today and 11 a.m. tomorrow.
-- Comprehensive security checks will take place at each entrance.
-- Vehicle checks will occur in parking areas.
-- Bus drop-off and pick-up points will be altered.
-- No outside beverages or liquids of any kind will be permitted into the ballpark. Food items of any kind are strongly discouraged.
