Minor injury for Morse

Mike Morse's season debut in right field proved a disappointment on several levels.

Not only did Morse struggle at the plate, going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts, but he also had to leave the game in the eighth inning after his left calf muscle cramped.

Morse said he hurt himself while tracking down Raul Ibanez's seventh-inning sacrifice fly. He stayed in the game and attempted to retake the field in the eighth but quickly realized he couldn't do it.

"It was actually when I broke to catch the ball," he said. "It just cramped up on me real bad. But I mean, it's feeling a lot better now."

Manager Jim Riggleman said Morse will likely miss a day or two. He probably wouldn't have started tomorrow's game anyway, with right-hander Kyle Kendrick on the mound for the Phillies.

Cristian Guzman replaced Morse in right field tonight and looked comfortable catching the first fly ball hit his way. Guzman, who had never played anything other than shortstop in a regular-season game before tonight, also tripled and scored in his only at-bat.

I am starting to like Guzman more and more. I don't know if he is just trying to improve his trade-deadline value (future contract), or what;.....but he is sure taking his demotion much better than I thought he would.

Can Guzman close too?

So the Nats clearly dont love Harris, Morse, or Tavares (who can blame them) in RF.

Mark, why dont they just give Guzman 1-2 weeks of several hours a day work in RF and give him the job?

because his arm sucks, he doesn't take any walks, and his power's AWOL. Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the show?
