This won't be quite the spectacle that last year's game was from the Nationals' perspective, with only Bryce Harper competing on the field. But Harper is only the second player in Nats history to be in the starting lineup (joining Alfonso Soriano in 2006). Bryce is batting ninth and starting in center field, and he expects to play three innings before departing.
Jordan Zimmermann, obviously, won't be pitching, but the right-hander will get his moment in the spotlight, introduced along with his fellow All-Stars before the start of the game. And, of course, Davey Johnson is here and will get a nice ovation from the New York crowd.

Who was the NL hitting coach?
This feels exactly like watching a Nats game,NatsLady. Adequate pitching, good defense , other team scored a couple on a sac fly or some such thing. No offense. Absolutely no offense. Bryce has handled himself well-- good showing last night, no problems in the field, made contact- once very hard. He arrives back healthy and we call it a success. Second all- star game, starter, homerun derby- check., check, check-- and he is twenty. For real.
I am starting to dislike that Machado kid.
Why is Reviera pitching 8th not 9th?
As much as I would like the NL to win, watching Kimbrel fail is just something I have to watch.
Ewww. Neil Diamond needs to retire with McCarver.
