How long can the Nats continue to stay with the poor production of Chad Tracy who is a lefty bat off the bench and has shown no signs of power since the injury last season.
Mark, did you ever find out what Detwiler's breaking pitch is? Slider, Curve, Slurve?
Also, what changed in Gio to start throwing this changeup 28% of the time? It had great dip to it and should really help improve him as a pitcher.
I'd like to hear about Gio's changeup, too. As a follow up, what are the chances that the league "figured out" Gio and/or Stras, and that it has contributed to their early season struggles? If that has been going on, could Gio's changeup be a reaction to that?

Followup question, if they were to do something with Tracy who would you see as a good replacement?
Tracy's last HR will have it's 1 year anniversary next Tuesday. His stat line is .152/.222/.152/.374 is only better than Bernadina's .265 OPS however you can tell Bernadina is coming out of his funk.
Plus, Bernadina has hugely lived up to his nickname in the outfield lately.
There is a deficiency in LH power bats in the Nats system. Closest would be Skole who is injured then Corey Brown who is injured. Walters is trying to be a power hitter.
Other than DL moves, the Nats once again show their reluctance to make the moves with their weak links on their 25 man roster and upgrade.
I can see the rationale in sticking with Chad Tracy a while longer since there is no LH upgrade but how is Henry Rodriguez still here?
They're in a bit of a bind with Tracy and Henry, and, well, Bernadina too - no options for any of them, so it's the major league roster, the DL or lose them. And the Nats are pretty slow to give up on people, generally speaking. But you do have to wonder how long they'll wait before trying something different. If that appearance Henry had where he walked the bases loaded wasn't the breaking point, it's hard to say what will be.
Really hoping we don't have to use a 6th starter for quite some time but it doesn't make sense that our starting 5 goes the entire year. Who do you see taking the ball if they have to move another arm in?
I realize Mark wants questions here but I too am amazed that Henry is still in the bullpen and I do think we have options to replace him. Not sure what else he would have to do to make him expandable.
MLB Trade Rumors has a piece on a possible JZimmermann extension. The piece also discussed how the influx of new TV contract moneys are giving teams more flexibility...
Which leads to my question:
What is the Status of the MASN dispute and who is going to finally make the comment that the Nats are getting royally screwed? They could easily command a 100 million a year contract if given back their broadcasting rights.
The Nationals are going to need to keep up with the other teams and Angelos is clearly mucking up the works...
Is there any word on a resolution of the O's Nats Masn dispute? If isn't resolved the Nats will be at a disadvantage with all these other teams getting new $ from tv...
Simple question: The one through five rotation... It is clear now that they are not in best to worst order as they should be. Will that be corrected, and if so how? And how do you guys see the best to worst rotation.
Also to add onto the MASN Contract questions. While this is still in arbitration - are the Nats getting ANY monies?
What is your prognosis for Rendon? Will he stay in the minors (barring injury to a roster player) until September call-ups or are there other possibilities?
Mark, I feel like our offense is very feast or famine and such is the nature of living off the longball, but what do you think well help make our run production more consistent?

I can assure you that couldn't be further from the truth. I got tired of talking with you a long time ago. Harper has a better shot at being an All Star right now than Zimmermann does. Zimmermann needs to keep performing at the same high level, because he's a pitcher and they are not selected until right before the game. If he drops off, other pitchers could be chosen instead of him. Meanwhile, Harper is hopefully collecting lots of fan votes already and will continue to collect them even if his performance slacks off. Position players can make the ASG based on early season reputation, pitchers can't.
I think ASG voting starts too early. I am going to wait until at least mid-June to start voting so I have better idea who is not playing out of their minds.
As far as Harper is concerned, he has been in a bit of a slump lately. He needs to pick it up again if he wants to go to NY in summer.

The bullpen has improved of late, but it's only a matter of time before an arm will need to be summoned from Syracuse or Harrisburg. Who do you see as most likely to provide reinforcement from the farm? Erik Davis (R)? J.C. Romero (L)? And now that Bill Bray has returned to claim a AA roster spot, how close are Christian Garcia and Cole Kimball to seeing game action?
Since so many great Natst questions have already been asked, I'm going to push the envelope: Why does MLB oppose metal bats? Back in my day (Muddy Ruel, I caught Walter J. in '24-25) the gloves were small, but MLB doesn't insist that the fielders use small gloves; in fact you can use half a cow on your hand now. But we must have wooden bats ... It can't be safety issue (like the one that the colleges addressed by specifying the composite of the metal bat last year) b/c the mable bats splinter into the stands frequently and will no doubt impale some fan some day.

That's another easy one. All Star voting is a phishing expedition for mlb.com. Nothing more, nothing less.
Bit esoteric, but why does a dead ball ruling benefit the offense instead of holding the runners or even moving them back?
