A note from Mrs. Z

Dear readers,

The Nats have been nothing if not exciting, and it has been my pleasure to experience the intense highs and devastating lows with all of you. I have thoroughly enjoyed interacting with you and watching you interact with Mark and with each other. I have learned so much about baseball from your comments — I now know what UZR and WAR mean — and have certainly gained a better appreciation for
"my" team that I did from simply watching MASN or listening to Federal News Radio.

From the moment that Mark published his first post when we held our proverbial breath, wondering if anyone would read it, to the thousands of pageviews the day Stephen Strasburg winced in pain on the mound and was pulled from his final start; this has been an awesome journey. We couldn't have done any of this without you.

So, thank you Nats Insider readers. Thank you for checking this site out in the first place; for contributing to the spring training campaign and sending Mark on his "Viera or Bust" road trip; for subscribing to the site and proving that in-depth, quality baseball coverage is still valued in this town; for meeting Mark and me at the ballpark; and most importantly, for visiting this site, day in and day out. Thank you, thank you from the bottom of this sportswriter's wife's heart.

— Rachel Zuckerman (aka "Mrs. Z")

You're welcome, Mrs. Z.! Thanks for supporting Mark's dedication to a sometimes thankless, always risky, but really exciting line of work.

Mrs. Z,

Thank you for the wonderful pictures taken during the season and for having the faith and courage to let Mark follow his passion. The Nats season may not have been what we all hoped for but certainly this site was everything and more I could have wanted.

That is nice of you to write! I always liked when Mark would also comment in some of the colorful discussions that would occur in the comment section.

Rachel, it is great to see a wife so supportive of her husband!

Thank You (emphasis on you),
I know these types of brand new endeavors rquire a quality home life and I just want to say, without ever meeting you, that you are obviously someone substantial.
Reading Mark's (and yours) site every morning has been one of the highlights of my day and something I enjoy for more than just sports, also great writing.
To the both of you, keep up the great work.

Thanks for letting your husband play with us, Mrs. Z.

Good for you with WAR and UZR. I'm still trying to get my brain around those concepts!

Mrs. Z, I've enjoyed seeing your photo and comment contributions. Thanks for those, and special thanks for your role in the launch of this endeavor (as described by Mark in the early post below).

In other news, yeah, one could click on the sponsor links. One could also invest in an Insider sweatshirt or a mug to help stave off the cold as the bitter recriminations of winter set in. Or until the hot stove fires up. I'm just saying...

Oh, and UZR, SCHMZR. :-)

Nice to see the mutual support that is generated between you Mrs. Z and The MarkMeister. All of us commenters are going to continue to do our best to help make this site a success--the best is yet to come!

It takes talented writing and consistent effort to have the Nats Insider successes that Mark has achieved, with a team that is known primarily for its' losses.

Such a nice note! Thanks Mrs. Z. I'll click a few sponsors. My Insider bag and nifty thermal drink cup arrived two days ago. I recommend them to the rest of the gang.

Thank you Mrs.Z... My only wish for you is that Mark takes you out somewhere really really nice for no reason except to spoil you. Blessings

No,thank you! Mrs.Z. Mark's contribution to the Nationals information scene in DC has contributed much to those of us who are out-of-state fans. Being the wife of a basketball/football referee myself I know what it takes to keep the home fires burning, ship afloat etc. when they are on the road. Kudos to you too!

Dear Mrs. Z,

I've always said, "Sportswriters' wives are the best." The weird hours. The road trips (endless) and pay (crummy). The editors (too weird to even mention). Mark is my hero. He ran with his dream, and is making something of it.

You're the best. You both deserve each other. Happy trails, and keep those great photos coming! Thanks for writing.

I think what keeps us all coming back, besides the awesome Nats coverage, is the sense that you and Mark seem like genuinely nice people.
I feel lucky to have stumbled across a small blurb in the Post describing Mark's project, which led me to this blog.
It was wonderful to meet you as well that day in 409.

Thanks Mrs. Z. You seem to be quite a writer yourself. This has been my goto place for Nats information the whole season and I look forward to its continuation.
