Nats bullpen reads Fifty Shades of Grey

53 comments:

  1. The best part of this is the female voice over before each guy reads. To funny.

  2. Is that a great group of guys or what!!

  3. Mattheus has a second career as an actor. THAT LOOK!!! LOL.

  4. You can definitely tell there is something special about this team and the karma in that clubhouse.

Big assist to Werth getting rid of the malcontents like Nyjer and shaping the clubhouse but its Davey who has shaped the winning attitude.

Look what Davey has done to Bernadina. Davey showed confidence in him and when Bernadina stepped up he got the playing time and has been a key in this current team streak.

Even Detwiler looks like a new player since the All Star break.

Pass me some more Kool-Aid, I'm thirsty for more!

  6. I now have a much better understanding of why there were a few bullpen issues over the past couple of weeks. Who could concentrate on baseball while appreciating contemporary British literature?

  7. Great deadpan deliveries and pretty daggone funny. :-)

  8. God I want to watch this.. I am afraid to do it at the office... sigh.. only few more hours until i get home and can view....

  9. It's not X-rated Michele, or even R. Unless you're afraid of your own reaction...

Of note, missing were Henry, MGone, and Gorzo. I guess Storen didn't have his library card renewed yet as you know with Roomie Clip front and center that Drew would have been there!

  11. Henry has fifty shades of grey too, but they're all outside the zone. Some are quite wild, actually.

  12. Sec 222.. YUP.. NatsLady said she busted up laughing.... That would be a dead give away in my office that I was not working.

  13. This is awesome. So far this has been my favorite part about having a team that gets national attention.

  14. sorry Feel Wood but with Henry it's black or white

    Kinky. He goes both ways.

  16. Love how Tyler and Craig looked at each other. And you are right, in past years this would have been horrible, now that we are pertinent its funny.

  17. And BTW, how great is it that Burnett has rebounded from chucking beach balls at the beginning of last year to being awesome again

  18. The really great thing is that all four of those guys have ERAs under 3.00 (Clipp snuck back under yesterday), and WHIPs under 1.25. When you're that good, you can goof around off the field all you want.

  19. Burnett turn around has been amazing. He had a great second half in 2011, but he were so jadded by the first half, it was hard to enjoy (or believe).

Picked it right back up in 2012.

  20. A new version of the Reds Nasty Boys, with a sense of humor and 2X as many members!

Henry comes in a saws off bats, or heads, depending on how he feels, and the other guys take care of following up with the quivering batters!

When Davey instilled confidence, he also gave them a sense of humor!

    GooooooooooooNaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaats!!!

  21. Those Nasty Boys threw inside a lot more than these guys...

  22. In sad bullpen news -- read that either way -- the Mets released Miss Iowa.

    ReplyDelete
  23. That was hilarious!!!! Great guys and another example of that famous team chemistry. They may look all loose and relaxed, but don't let that fool you - all of them know how to focus on the field. I wonder how many baseball fans outside of DC would be able to name them, though. Maybe Clip, maybe not the others.

  24. Just great when they all crack up at the end - very spontaneous - I loved it!!

  25. We hsve to find a way to work in "Fifty Shades of Red"

  26. Sorry to hear about what may be the end of the road for Miss Miggy Iowa.

Hope he saved some of his moolah, and will contiue to write his stories. A unique ballplayer with a long career.

  27. The deadpan delivery probably comes pretty naturally, as anyone who has watched any of them in a post-game interview can attest...

DIRECTOR: "Sean, can you read it with a little more inflection?"

BURNETT: "Inflection? Is that something I have to hit you for?"

    ReplyDelete
  28. I don't know, Candide. I thought they had great timing as well. It seemed more intentional deadpan to me, as opposed to RZ's perhaps unintentional deadpan in his Geico commercials (sorry, Ryan - love ya :-)).

  29. I love how Clip and Stammen have choreographed turning the pages and then their heads. So funny. I think one of the reasons we are laughing so much is that these guys are usually so tame.

  30. Still over 4 hours to first pitch...

  31. These late starts kill me. Will have to DVR and watch later. Oh, well. Could be a West Coast trip. Yuck.

  32. I agree nf1a - I tell myself to go to sleep - but I can't really relax until I know it's over. So pathetic.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Isn't the game on at 8:00 pm?

How early do you people go to sleep?

Do what I do. I just tell myself that I really don't care. Tell myself a little lie, and I sleep like a cat that just had dinner.

  35. JD, some of us have things to do every morning that require us to get up early. Even us retired guys. If I'm not at the gym at 7:00 am, I'll find some damned excuse not to go at all.

    ReplyDelete
  36. And besides, Cunegonde is up at 5:00 every morning, and doesn't like having the TV on in the bedroom at 11:00 pm.

She especially hates it when I yell "WOO-HOOOOOOO!!!!!! Beast Mode!!!" when she's just dropped off. Woman packs a mean left hook.

  37. Here's where my lack of ability to sleep much comes in handy. To bed at 1 AM, at the gym at 7:30 AM. I can't sleep past 6:15 AM even if I was up to 3 AM the nite before. I do get to see the West coast games tho.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm usually up by 6:30, and I'm usually falling asleep on the couch by 9:30. On a good night, I might make it to 10 or 10:30. Watching until 11 or 11:30? Yeah, that's not happening most nights. Maybe on a weekend, if I have lots of caffeine. Even if I was sitting, er, slumping on the couch "watching" the game at 11, I'd have to either rewind every time I roused or watch the recording later. Thanks for your interest in my sleep habits. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. :-)

  39. They got to Tommy M. for 6 runs, including two home runs. Don't know if they would have stayed in at the Coliseum (was listening on the radio) plus he threw a WP and made a throwing error. Again, not good away from home.

Since most days I don't get off work until 9:15, I'm driving home for the last couple of innings if they start at 7:05. Love West Coast swings...

  40. Candide, we have a similar issue with my husband's schedule. The tv is downstairs, but it wakes him when I come upstairs after the game. I try not to make a lot of noise while I'm watching, or when I come upstairs after the game. That said, sometimes I come upstairs and he's like, "What was all that shouting about?" I'm like, "Uh, shouting? Must have been on the tv." Heh. :-)

  41. Someone posted this response on another blog:

Henry Rodriguez was going to be in this video, but he read A Walk to Remember by mistake.

  42. I am up and about at 7:00 am at the latest (I had to walk the dog every morning until he passed last year and I still wake up anyway) but I normally stay up to watch Letterman anyway so an 8:00 pm game is fine with me.

I hate the west coast games because I am tempted to get up and check the score and I don't rest very well but most of the time I wait until the AM to check the score.

  43. My wife has recently started watching the games with me (she is a big fan/maven now) so I don't have Candide's or 1A's issues.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I can actually handle 8 pretty well if it doesn't drag on and on. The only problem is that if things get exciting at the end it takes me a while to peel myself off the ceiling. The West Coast games at 10 are killer. I have asked my grown sons to call me and wake me up if one of the Nats ever has a nono going on in a West Coast game so that I can get back up and watch. Would never forgive them or myself if I missed something like that.

  45. My wife and I finally came to the conclusion that our body clocks are stuck for good.

You have to tell me to go to bed at 2 a.m. My preference is to be up and at 'em at 10, but the world seems to disagree.

My bride is up before 6 a.m every day, even on vacation.

I think there is only one reason to rise before 6 a.m. -- structure fire.

  46. Thank goodness there's a new post. These comments are making me sleepy.

  47. Wad's nest....Grandpa Smurf Stras, readin' "A Christmas Carol"??

Think what these guys could do for young readers?

  48. Swami, I have the same issue with winding down after games. Doesn't matter whether it's a big win or a frustrating loss, it takes a while either way.

My husband watches parts of games with me, but usually not the whole thing (well, unless we're at the park :-)).

    Sorry about your pup, JD.

    ReplyDelete
  49. My wife started watching the games with me last year -- we're both hooked and don' miss a game.

Now, in the morning, I find the Post sports page in her hands. Hilarious!

Anyway, to "wind down" as NatsFan1a talked about, we make whoopee after every victory and forego on nights we lose. Thank YOu, First Place Nats!!! Just kidding, of course -- written in the spirit of 50 shades of grey.

  50. The acting in this clip reminds me of "Baseball Superstar Fred McGriff" in Tom Emanski's Baseball World training video (though, who can argue with those back-to-back-to-back AAU National Champions?). The simultaneous page turn is fantastic, though! These guys are great.

    ReplyDelete
  51. lol, Jim! (and I always grab the sports page in the a.m.)
