US Presswire photo Ross Detwiler faces Clayton Kershaw tonight at Dodger Stadium. |
Clayton Kershaw, the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner, starts for Los Angeles. Matt Kemp, last year's NL MVP runner-up, has been playing out of his mind so far this season. And Nationals left-hander Ross Detwiler only boasts an 0.56 ERA entering his fourth start of the year.
Davey Johnson will try out a new-look lineup for this one, trying to stack up as many of his best right-handed hitters as he can. Jayson Werth gets bumped up the No. 3 spot. Danny Espinosa gets bumped down to the 6-hole. Adam LaRoche hits cleanup, but he's the only left-handed batter in the lineup.
I'm not in town for tonight's game, but I've got good news: I just booked a morning flight to LAX, and I'll be reporting live from the scene at tomorrow's extravaganza (as well as Sunday's series finale). Until then, enjoy tonight's game and the conversation...

Mattheus your terrible
Whew! Thought we wuz goners when he threw the wild pitch.
Getting him to ground out is even better! GO MATHEUS!
LOL Scott
And....exhale.
Ryan Mattheus gets the best of Matt Kemp with RISP -- who'd a thunk it?
Morse was injury-prone from his days in Seattle, so it doesn't surprise me if management believes he's a slow healer.
He probably won't admit it, but I suspect Davey Johnson had a big hand in lobbying to get Harper up here.
Thanks scott for the info on Perry, that is very nice of you. Now, after reading about him, i am not impressed with him at all
I refuse to take responsibility for going over 200 posts.
Go, NATS!! Get some runs.
i'm a nice guy
NatsLady, I consider it a great thing when we get over 200 posts. Just means we are all into the game.
One thing about Phillies blogs, they're a lot less negative about the Nationals than in here.
Mr. LaRoche looked like he knew that if he didn't hit one out there wasn't much hope in the next three Nat batters doing anything.
Take credit for it, NatsLady, it's a badge of honor.
Not that honor is in question. I mean ... I'll quit digging.
In other news, Skole knocks in two more at Hagerstown. He has 29 RBIs in 19 games.
Time to pack Skole's bags for Potomac.
Nailed him!
WOw, great play all around, DeRosa, Espy, Flores!! Now, make it count=====> get some runs!
Note to RGIII -- That's the best howitzer in town.
This pitcher was a catcher for the Netherlands national team..he is a beast
SOOOO CLOSE!!!!
review
they should have reviewed that..davey johnson needed to come out there
Scott, Davey was looking at Jewett for help. After the multiple replays, they got the call right.
Yeah, it was foul Barely. But on the replay it was definitely foul.
he needs to walk out there and ask..ne needs to make sure the nats get respect..if that was the yankees they review
Crap, another person on the DL
man, can we cath a break
Not going down without a fight...
carpenter says pitchers wear sneakers the day after the game..he had ot run in and get spikes on..carpenter told me something interesting i didnt know...ALRIGHT!!!
Oh my. Poor Chad. Paging Tyler Moore?
Sunshine! That's right.. NOT GOING DOWN WITHOUT A FIGHT! GYFNG!!!!
Flores swinging at his eyes.
Dam
...but we went down. Get 'em tomorrow/today.
G'night everybody.
Tough loss, but the guys did battle against the Cy Young winner.
LaRoche is doing all he can do game after game.
Really disappointed in DeRosa. He has done nothing since he came here and just some very bush league ABs.
Well, Ross has a 1.64 ERA and we certainly can't complain about that. It's good to know we have our stopper on the hill tomorrow to right the ship (and help mix our metaphors.)

I don't know. Jury is still out. Today was a 4.50 ERA. He came back well after the 1st inning. Still good enough to win the game with some run support but lets face it, he had Kershaw on the other side.
Its time for Kracken rum and Maalox ... I'm not sure young Tweeter Swag is ready to save this offense ... but I do hope I'm wrong ...
And the game in a nutshell: No F'n hitting! 3 hits! Are you serious!
C'mon Eckstein, Davey has faith in you. Do your dang job!
GYFNG!!
After reading the thread: Mick, while I think it's great that you feel comfortable baring your, er, soul here, I fear you may have ventured into the realm of too much information a time or two last night. Thanks for sharing, though. ;-)
