Strasburg on ... lots of things

Comcast SportsNet's Kelli Johnson sat down with Stephen Strasburg yesterday in Viera for an interview that covered subjects from coming back from Tommy John surgery to his innings limit this season, to golf and shrimp fishing.

Check out the interview (cut into five parts):

In Part 1, Kelli talks with Stephen about being injury-free to start the season, dealing with Tommy John surgery and having Bryce Harper as a teammate.

  5. I really enjoy the level of "realness" I find with Stephen Strasburg like talking with a family member.

Its refreshing with all the fakeness out there.

  6. One thing is certain ... the Nats [Lerner's] are really getting swindled by MASN. More videos and coverage of the Nats while MASN 2012 has become even more ALL ORIOLES ALL THE TIME. Even their beat reporter ... probably the best of the lot, is an Oriole fan?

  7. When MASN has to pay the Nationals close to $75M a year (or more?) they will have the last laugh.

  8. Speaking of what do SS and Harper drive.... Did Harper drive his "work truck" to Viera this year?

  9. I didn't know what Twitter speak was for "hurry up". I found out it is TTMF and you can figure out the acronym at the Urban Dictionary.

Basically, let's hurry up and announce the Zim deal, tick tock, time is money.

Looks like Boswell will make calculated statements to get a reaction.

    Shock jock type of strategy.

  11. Evertime I see these interviews it makes me proud that these players are on our team!

  12. Steve M. Thanks for TTMF. I love it. English is such a great language!

sm13--I love the attitude the Nat's team has this ST too. And I really like Strasburg's thoughtful responses. It's such a relief from the cliches we always hear that usually start "Without a doubt, Without a doubt."

  13. SS seems like a great kid, but he better save his sheckles cuz I don't see a position for him on Basetball Tongight. Didn't anyone else see how more comfortable he seemed not talking about baseball. Seems like a regular dude... Hoping for a big year!

  14. It certainly is, although I would opine that the example in question does not showcase it in a particularly imaginative manner. :-)

  15. I mentioned this last night after watching but a big part of the interview is Kelli Johnson. I think its just a great job of making him comfortable, probably before the interview even started. Just imagine if that had been Debbie Taylor? So Steven, how do you feel? What were you feeling when you threw that first pitch in spring training? Is this a big year for you? etc etc.

Anon, he is definitely not comfortable in these interviews and I think that is another thing that makes him special. He must be so happy to have Harper, and RZ and others step to the mike.

  16. Eh, vulgar doesn't mean unimaginative. You don't have to use it, of course.

Speaking of which: P2P, stop hurting America. Shock jocks talk about boobies and make crank calls. Boswell said folks don't discuss baseball. Good grief.

  17. It does to me, but your mileage may vary, as always (which is not to say that I've never used a profanity or a vulgarity).

  18. Really? I think vulgarities comprise some of the language's most creative expressions. To each his, her, and/or its own, I suppose.

  19. Anyway, my point was that the initialism/acronym in question was not particularly illustrative of the beauty or complexities of the language, which it wasn't, IMO, YMMV. Seeing as how I did not intend to start a linguistic flame war, I will now go and eat some bon-bons. Later. :-)

  20. Video 2 is not working for me. Whenever I click it, it opens part 1 for me. I did it from here and from CSN's site. same result.

Anyways, two things I took from part 1 is: who is kelli johnson? never heard of her before when it comes to reporting on Nationals.
the guy in the back will tell his grandsons about this video and how he got SS's back during this interview.

Kelli Johnson is normally doing Redskins sideline reporting. She really is the one of the best at just talking with the players after the game or doing interviews with them.

She just started doing the Nats, really glad to have her with us.

I agree with Scooter. English is great b/c it is always changing. Always on the cutting edge. I cuss all the time during the day, but ironically when I write I don't. But that doesn't make Vincent & Jules any less imaginative In Pulp Fiction. In fact they're poetic. I think TTMF is much more alive than "opine" for instance. But I hear you natsfan 1A I really do. As the man said to each his own.

Why am I always the last guy writing on these blogs. Stop! Rhetorical Question...
