Everyone can see Stras' mechanics have strayed from the optimum.

I get that Rizzo has to present an all-is-well front to those who ask but sometimes, it seems a bit forced. Do I have to accept what he says at face value? Nope. Maybe that's from my dealing with the always-lying, used-car-salesman of a GM the Redskins used to have.SteveRep44https://www.blogger.com/profile/02984692012366238820noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3442809928829881676.post-16612655234448260422013-04-30T19:29:14.271-04:002013-04-30T19:29:14.271-04:00By next week, Strasburg will be in Birmingham visi...By next week, Strasburg will be in Birmingham visiting Dr. James Andrews. At some point, things will start to come together and the wins will come. Here is hoping
Atlanta continues to scuffle and doesn't pull too far ahead before the Nats get their collective acts together.Dayloshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09101020389036790694noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3442809928829881676.post-70441723530540685752013-04-30T15:51:33.644-04:002013-04-30T15:51:33.644-04:00I understand what you're saying Ghost, but I t...I understand what you're saying Ghost, but I think permanent batteries are a bad idea. We just saw Ramos go down for several weeks. Thankfully, none of our pitchers were unfamiliar with Zuk. He caught consecutive 1 hitters from Gio and JZnn. That ought to tell you that this idea that Zuk's rhythm or pitch calling or whatever isn't suited to JZnn is bunk. He caught Stras's good outing last Sunday too.

Davey's alternating days plan until one of them gets hot makes eminent sense. Keeps them both fresh, and keeps the staff comfortable with both guys. We're going to be better down the stretch for it, or if there are other injuries.Section 222https://www.blogger.com/profile/17106128453333996193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3442809928829881676.post-33087646404800645892013-04-30T15:49:36.153-04:002013-04-30T15:49:36.153-04:00Phew, good to hear. Stras was pissed about the error and he paid for it in a Loss.

There's no way to modify that stat unless you have an official scorer type deciding whose fault there are on pitches and it would make a mockery of the game. There's no way around it which is why a large enough sample usually shows a good number to go by unless there was extraordinary occurrence that skewed it.

Sometimes it's the catchers fault but it ultimately falls on the pitcher.

I also think Suzuki's ERA with Stras has been inflated some by none of his own fault. Stras was missing the glove badly all night. At times Zuk didn't even seem to bother to frame. Neither of them were necessarily on the same page but 2 runs over 6 innings with as poorly as it looked, not too bad.Ghost Of Steve M.https://www.blogger.com/profile/05745394350047225996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3442809928829881676.post-14577417187617680852013-04-30T15:32:57.475-04:002013-04-30T15:32:57.475-04:00Ascribing pitchers' outings, good or bad, to a...Ascribing pitchers' outings, good or bad, to a catcher is a fool's errand.
