This has become in my opinion one of the most exciting franchises to keep an eye on. With players like Strasburg, Zimmermann, Detwiller, Peacock, Ramos, Zimmerman, Desmond, Espionsa, Werth, Morse, Storen, Clippard, H - Rod, Kimball, Burnett and guys on the way like Harper, Solis, Norris, Rendon, Goodwin, Purke, Meyer, Cole, Ray, and others, for me I love being a Washington Nationals fan. Now we just have to be patient and dont make any trades that make us go backwards (like the Greinke trade would have done). The "slashes" you used- BA/OBP- are misleading and don't really tell us anything we can't gather from OBP alone. They miss, for example, the fact that Sizemore slugged .422. Which, while not all that good, certainly makes him a better hitter than, say, Ian Desmond, even though your "slash" numbers suggest that Desmond is the better hitter. They also suggest that Upton and Crisp are similar hitters/players. They are not, and it is not close.Bowdenballnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3442809928829881676.post-83076760048666137432011-11-01T15:01:55.461-04:002011-11-01T15:01:55.461-04:00If we are going to acquire a player(SP/CF/Lead off...If we are going to acquire a player(SP/CF/Lead off hitter) via trade who on our roster is tradeable? You have to look at players that have value from either potential or peformance

So potential:
Detwiler and Bernadina - Not that I want to move them but they are out of options and have enough value but have not take a starting spot(unlike M. Morse).
&
Flores - He was a decent catching prospect and looks like he is returning to his former self. Keep on tearing up the Venezuelan Winter League!

Performance:
Lannan - Solid 3-4 and a lefty. Not sexy but a good starter.

Any others?

What can we get for these parts? I think we could move Bernie, AA or A prospect and Detwiler or Lannan for Wandy.

Maybe Span? What would it take to Bourjos? Some of these plus Milone or Peacock? Not sure.

Are we better off? Maybe but some of the parts have to be moved as at least a few are out of options and are replaceable.Water23noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3442809928829881676.post-66239913348416554682011-11-01T15:01:31.113-04:002011-11-01T15:01:31.113-04:00Or even *in* November. Sizemore slashed at .224/.285 in 71 games. Desmond slashed at .253/.298. Upton slashed at .243/.331 Crisp slashed at .264/.314 and had 49 steals. Alex Gordon slashed at .303/.376.

Out of all of those guys, Alex Gordon got the most time at lead-off in 2011.Steve M.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3442809928829881676.post-54079131361684093612011-11-01T14:21:06.834-04:002011-11-01T14:21:06.834-04:00DAYS UNTIL PITCHERS AND CATCHERS REPORT: 111
