What's wrong with Bernadina, who was the "official" lead-off guy in left?

Please tell me what's wrong with that lineup? You would at least have two .300 hitters in Nix and Morse in it? Why do you leave Clippard in for another inning (the 8th) and why with bases empty and a 3 run lead to you go to Storen to get 1 out in the 8th? Doesn't make sense to me. I'm not sure I agree with statements that the game was managed well. Given that a 4 run lead disappeared. Yes, using Zimmermann to bunt (he's also a better hitter than Marquis) was a solid move.

Still, there was some real luck involved. That play on Bernadina in the 11th looked like an out. But Bernadina is so fast he made it look like he was safe. Was the Ankiel walk skill or luck considering his current batting stats? Probably a combination of the two. Morse is a great hitter but he appears to do far better when there is less pressure on him. He is batting around .300 with RISP but he doesn't do well with the game on the line. Whereas Nix does ... but he was replaced by Ankiel.

There was luck, athleticism, strength of will involved in winning this must-win game.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3442809928829881676.post-61850483163080827732011-06-05T20:34:19.783-04:002011-06-05T20:34:19.783-04:00Hey Unkyd and 1A,
