This year was the 2nd year for Jordan Zimmermann and he's really stepped up his performance. I think Stras is still having control issues. So entertaining, and boy did they come alive when Zim hit his base clearing double. Thank you MLB iPhone app.

Remember when people were making fun of Marlon Byrd early this year? He's really put together a nice season so far. BUT, that baserunning error was key. The Mets were primed to break the game open, and Det got out of the inning with just the two runs scoring. What he did confirms a point I was making a few games ago when people were complaining about Rendon (I think) not tagging and going to third on a liner to right center. When in doubt, go halfway.

Winning this game puts us in a great position to win this series, which is all I want. One series at a time, we'll claw back in it. But both Gee and Wheeler will be tough. Let's get to that bullpen baby. He has a different style. Right now, if someone said one game for all the marbles and you get one pitcher, and he has to go all nine-- JZ would be my pick. By the way, have you been watching his velocity? He is getting up to 96, 97 and deep into the games. He is dominating on the mound. I would love to hear what the actual hitters think- throw out the numbers, who do they hate to face the most?
